【 生きる 】ーIkiru
映画館で寝てしまったのが悔しくて、やはりもう一度見る事に。
本当に志村喬は素晴らしい。これに尽きます。
彼はこの役に相当入れ込んでいたらしく、撮影を終え家に帰っても猫背のまま、ご飯も食べなかったそう。そんな旦那さんの姿を見ていた奥さんは、映画を見終わって涙を流したそうです。
I re-visited this film because I couldn't forgive myself for having falling asleep. Oh, what a fantastic actor Shimura Takashi is!!
During the shooting, he was so into this role and stayed in the character: he came home looking down all the time, didn't eat much. After having seen him like that, his wife cried when she saw the film.

【 小説家を見つけたら 】ーFinding Forrester
ガス・ヴァン・サントの作品で、前から見たかった作品。
いろいろ突っ込みどころはあったけど、話の内容がとても好きでした。終わり方もグッド。
I finally watched this Gus Van Sant film.
There are several things I want to complain/ask for explanation, but I liked the story and how it's told.

【 ファイナル・デッドコースター 】ーFinal Destination 3
何故だかよくわからないけどこのシリーズ好きなんです。
ただただ高校生が一人ずつ残酷に殺されて行くだけの映画なんですが。CGってすごいね．．．
I don't really know why I like the series.
You almost just watch high school students get killed one by one that's all...
What CG can do is just amazing.

【 ボルベール＜帰郷＞ 】ーVolver aka To Return
ペネロペはスペイン映画がいいじゃないか。
監督の唯一の不満は、この手の女性はたいていお尻が大きいのだが、ペネロペはあまりにスタイルが良過ぎること、だって。確かに。映画の雰囲気は好きですが、ストーリー的にはオール・アバウト・マイ・マザーの方が好きだったな。
今度トーク・トゥ・ハーを見てみます。
Penélope Cruz should always be in Spanish-speaking films. She's really good.
I like the colours and atmosphere but prefer All About My Mother. I'll try to watch Talk To Her soon.


【 一番美しく 】ーIchiban Utsukushiku: Most Beautifully
黒澤明映画、初期の作品です。珍しく女性が主人公。
ここまでクサイ話だったとは驚き。でも同時に清々しくもあり、なかなかよかった。
でもやっぱり三船敏郎が居ないとやっぱり寂しいかな。志村喬は少し出ていますが、どうしてこう彼はこんな少しの出番の役でもしっかり伝わってくるんだろう？すごい。
One of the Kurosawa's early films and one of the few of his films that has a female main character (actually most of the characters are female). I found the story a bit too cheesy but I don't hate it at all. Hm...still, I miss Mifune Toshiro in Kurosawa films... Shimura Takashi plays a rather small part in this film but I can tell about the character from his performance. He is too good.

【 グッドナイト＆グッドラック 】ーGood Night, and Good Luck
セクシー・ジョージの監督作品。すごくシンプル且つシャープに仕上がっていてカッコいい映画でした。
久々のロバート・ダウニーJr.もかっこ良かった。ジョージも最後までかっこ良かった。でもやっぱりこの映画は主演のデヴィッド・ストラザーン。押さえた演技が光ってます。
Sexy Goerge's Academy nominated film. Very simple but sharp. I like the style, too, with some Jazz songs.

【 酔いどれ天使 】(1948)
三船敏郎が初めて黒澤明の監督作品に出演・主演した作品。
そしてもう一人の主役が志村喬。
ずっと自分の中の黒澤映画トップ１０を考えていますが、これは確実に上位３位に入ります。
初共演でどうしてこんなにしっくりくるのか。
もう三船･志村ファンにはたまらない１本です。

Yoidore Tenshi - Drunken Angel (1948)
This is the first film that Mifune Toshiro appears in Kurosawa Akira's (directed) film.
He and Shimura Takashi play the main characters.
I've been thinking about my top 10 films of Kurosawa Akira and Drunken Angel would definitely be among top three.

【醜聞-スキャンダル-】 (1950)

前言撤回。これが志村喬のベスト！と私は思います。

この作品は面白いのですが、正直、黒澤作品の中ではランクは下のほうになるかな．．．という作品でした。それは志村喬以外のキャラクターがきちんと描かれていないのです。（黒澤作品にしては珍しい．．．）ただ話のきっかけを作る程度の描き方で、三船敏郎の良さも出ていない。これはある批評に私が賛同しているだけでオリジナルの意見ではありませんが、プロットが浅い。前半は三船敏郎がメインで話が進んでいくのに、志村喬の登場により、フォーカスが動いてしまっている。志村喬演じる弁護士の話に摩り替わってしまっている。もしこの弁護士役が他の役者で作られていたらそれほど面白いと思わなかったかもしれない、と思わせるほど彼に頼りきってしまっている。

それはもしかしたら、実はこの志村喬演じる人物にはモデルがいたからかもしれない。ある日飲み屋で近くにいた男性（弁護士ではらしいが）がしていた娘の話などがこのキャラクターのもとになっていることに、書いているうちに気づいた、と監督は話している。

と、批判ばかりになってしまいましたが、最初にも書いたとおり、面白いことは面白いのです。オープニングシーンやモンタージュなどの手法で工夫されたいいシーン（これは『野良犬』で再び採用している）もあり、最後まで見せます。ただちょっとプロットが極端で表面的であるため、他の作品に比べると“甘い”（これは監督自身の言葉）。

個人的には２箇所、思いっきり笑ってしまったシーンがありました。

【赤ひげ】 (1965)
遂に＜黒澤明の軌跡＞最後の作品となりました．．．
なんと素晴らしい１ヶ月だったことよ。

友人にこの映画で５回は泣けると言われました。
タオルも用意。周りからもすすり泣きが要所要所で聞こえてきました。
しかし私は泣いておりません。

この映画、いいと思いますが、なんかこう割と王道というか、ある程度予想の出来る内容だったので、特に涙を流すほど感動するということはなかったです。

個人的には、三船敏郎演じる赤ひげをもっともっと
掘り下げて欲しかったかなぁ。チンピラ相手に素手で立ち回るところは
面白かった！なんだか用心棒へのオマージュ的で。

これも『どですかでん』同様、山本周五郎が原作なので、
いつか読んでみようと思います。

【乱】 (1985)
この作品も２回目ですが、兄弟間の戦いがメインだったように記憶していたけど、兄弟それぞれの葛藤と父親の憔悴（もしくは傷悴）ぶりが描かれていた。とにかく父親役の仲代達也が半端じゃない狂いぶりで圧倒される。そしてロケーションも素晴らしく、とにかく全ての面においてお金を掛けて全身全霊を注いで作ったのがわかる。それもそのはず、監督自身はこれが最後になるかもしれないと思い（結果的にはその後３作品を監督）、構想10年のストーリーの映画化に苦労しながら資金調達し、製作費約１８億円、１年間に及ぶ撮影期間を要する作品となった。まさに集大成。黒澤作品を見ていていつも思うのは"贅沢"であること。こだわりを持って見せたいように、また、感じたままを表すように作っている"贅沢さ"を感じる。この『乱』ではあらゆる面（時間や衣装なども含め）でそれが表れているように思った。
明日の『赤ひげ』で今回の＜黒澤明の軌跡＞が終わります。これは三船敏郎が出演した最後の黒澤作品という意味でも感慨深い思いで臨むことになりそうです．．．

Ran (1985)
I thought I hadn't seen it but I actually had, and I thought it was about battles between the brothers. It actually is but my impression of this film changed this time. It is more like about individual's struggle. And if Kumonosujo (Throne of Blood) is about Mifune Toshiro, then Ran is about Nakadai Tatsuya, who plays the father.
I always feel Kuroswa films are luxurious (most significant is time, I think) and Ran is most distinctive one. I've read that he thgouht this would be his last film so he put a lot of effort to it, financilly and time-wise. He spent ten years to complete the script, and the production cost is $12m, he used 12,000 actors, 30,000 technicians, 15,000 horses (he doesn't rent horses: he buys and trains them), and the shooting took almost a year!! And you can appreciate this huge scale of film on screen.

【悪い奴ほどよく眠る】 (1960)
わーーーーっっっ！！この興奮は先日の『用心棒』以来！面白かったー！！素晴らしい社会派ドラマ！！アイデア抜群、もちろんそれぞれの演技も素晴らしい（あっ田中邦衛はちょっと笑っちゃいましたが．．．）。最後までどうなるか分らない展開に釘付けでした。あえて１つ注文をつけるなら、”最後の最後でもう一捻り”というのもありだなーと思います。だってあれじゃ、どうにもこうにも怒りのぶつけどころがないっ！！でもやっぱりその”もう一捻り”によって在り来たりなエンディングになってしまうのかな。そしてこのタイトル、いいですよね。映画が終わった後にもワイドスクリーンいっぱいに題字が出て来ました。ちなみに多くの黒澤映画の題字を書いている字、すごく好きです。
この The Criterion Collection のジャケも最高。
リージョンコードのせいで買っても見れませんが．．．（涙）

そして黒澤映画特集、ついに残り２本です．．．

Warui yatsu hodo yoku nemuru - The Bad Sleep Well (1960)
I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS FILM RIGHT NOW !!
ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT !!
Full of great ideas and superb performance. I didn't get bored once and glued to the story until the very end. If I could say something about it, it would have been about the ending. I think another twist at the end would have been sooo cool, otherwise....!!! (You would know my frustration if you see it ;-) But then again, a different ending with one more twist might have been a bit too ordinary.... OK, I've decided I like the ending. Yes, I do.
And I love this cover of The Criterion Collection . The design is cool and it tells you everything in a way.

Incidentally, the original title literally means something like
"The worse they are, the better they sleep".

And my Kurosawa film festival will end soon with two more films....(:_;)

Kumonosu Jo - Throne of Blood (1957)
This is one of the few Kurosawa films I saw for the second time, and this would probably be among top five. It's about human condition and the last scene is definitely one of the most memorable scenes with the fantastically itense performance by Mifune Toshiro and the special effects (not by computer, of course.) What an fantastic ending!!


【蜘蛛巣城】 (1957)
一度見ている作品でしたがスクリーンでの鑑賞のチャンスは逃せません。あの有名な雨のような弓矢の攻撃を受けるシーンの三船敏郎は何度見ても見ごたえあり。思わず前のめりに見てしまいました。（どの作品でもそうですが）三船敏郎は全編に渡り、迫真の演技で、人の情や欲に惑わされる、そして狂わされる役を見事に演じていました。最初、彼と同じような立場・境遇にあった千秋実の落ち武者姿（三船敏郎の幻覚）もなかなか。そしてあの恐ろしい手を洗うシーン(><)印象に残るシーンが散りばめられていて、私的には黒澤映画のトップ５に入る作品です。
この映画はシェイクスピアのマクベスが原作ですが、手を洗うシーンの演出が、本場イギリスの舞台に採用されたとか。今度はマクベスを読んでみたい。

【生きる】 (1952)
これは志村喬の一番の作品ではないだろうか。30年間のお役所勤め。真面目に働いて来たある男性がある日、自分が胃がんである事を知る。あまりのショックに家族にも告げられず、今まで休んだ事のなかった仕事も翌日から無断欠勤する。その中で彼は残りの人生について考え始める．．．
映画が終わりに近づくにつれ、すすり泣きが聞こえるようになった。とても日本らしいものを描いている作品だと思う。時に憤りを覚えつつ、情けなくなります。それにしてもこのポスターはちょっとホラーだな．．．
Ikiru (1952)
(First of all, I'm scared of this poster!!)
It's about a man who finds out that he has a cancer and is going to die. He is in shock and can't even tell his only son about it. He starts to think about his life. Different memories in the past. And he tries to "live" (hence the title) for the rest of his life. This man is played by Kurosawa's favourite Takashi Shimura, and he represents an old man who has been working for the goverernment in the last thirty years and hasn't done anything fun. (In my opinion, this could be his best performance.)
It's a funny and beautiful but very sad film. I heard several people (mostly old lady) weeping towards the end.

Dodesukaden (1970)
I was surprised. I was shocked. And I am confused. If you ask me if I liked it or not, I actually liked it but I'm confused as I don't know how to digest it. It's his first colour film and I had been watching quite a few of his (black and white) films lately, so it was almost like as if it was first time for me to see a colour film. Full of colour. And the story, well, it's about many different people who are living in the same slum and it's told in a random way: you don't see one after another. Some are funny, some are surreal. I couldn't tell where it was going so I've decided to read the original book, A City Without Seasons by Shugoro Yamamoto. I hope it will help me to understand the film better....

【どですかでん】 (1970)
こ、これは．．．黒澤映画なのか？というくらい雰囲気の全く違う映画で、正直感想が書けません。好きか嫌いかと聞かれたら好きなんです。でも理解が出来ないというか．．．いや、理解しなくていいのかな？ただ受け止めればいいなら受け止めることはできました。でもその後どう消化していいのやら．．．山本周五郎の原作『季節のない街』を読んでみうようと思います。しかし驚くべきは（内容と関係ありませんが）、この映画のIMDbのサイト。まずタイトルが“Dô desu ka den（どうですかでん）”という表記になっている。そして多分そのせいで「トリビア」の欄にこう書いてある：
『このタイトルは想像上の路面電車を動かしているとき主人公が口する電車の走る音だけではなく、“で、どうなの？(So, how about it?" )”という意味もあり、よく使われるフレーズである。』
は？なんですか、それ？いったい誰がそんなこと教えたのよ？トリビアどころか大嘘ぢゃん！合っているのは前半だけです。タイトルから間違えるなんて、なんだかやたら腹が立ちました。早速訂正リクエスト出してやりました。
そしてまたこのポスター．．．何よ。ミステリーものみたいぢゃん。こっちの方が断然、感じが出てる。

The Three Villains of the Hidden Fortress (1958)
This is actually the one I wanted to see the most, and it is probably the most entertaining one of the ones I've seen. I can see why George Lucas took the idea of two characters for Star Wars: they are so funny and lovable! And Mr Mifune...could he be any sexier??

【隠し砦の三悪人】(1958)
またまたやられました。どうしてこう面白い話が湧いてくるのか？今まで見た中で一番娯楽性の高い作品だったかな。ジョージ・ルーカスがスターウォーズのC3POとR2D2のアイデアをとったと言う２人が本当におかしくて、今回三船敏郎は至ってマジメで仕える姫に忠実な家臣役。もーかっこ良すぎですよ。

Norainu - Stray Dog (1949)
This is my first film with a non-samurai Mifune. Acutally I didn't realise him for quite a while. Nevertheless, he's brilliant as always, although he doesn't have many lines. I thought this film was about people, which I like very much. There are many memorable scenes in this film: the heat, the baseball game, the rain, the songs, the piano....

【野良犬】 (1949)
これです、私が好きな人間臭い映画！！
うだるような暑さ、満員の野球場、雨、ピアノ、歌．．．
印象的なシーンがいっぱいです。
初・侍ではない三船敏郎は違和感があったけど、それはただ見慣れていないだけで、演技はさすがです。この映画ではそれほど台詞がありませんが、憤り、やるせなさ、焦り、そして安堵、すべて見事に表現しています。そしてやはり目ですね、彼は。

Tsubaki Sanjûrô (1962)
I didn't know it was a sequence of Yojimbo and I was surprised to see exactly the same character (played by Toshiro Mifune) again, haha! But I'm glad I saw Yojimbo first ;-) I, of course, prefer Yojimbo, which is more tense and serious, but still I enjoyed Tsubaki Sanjûrô very much. It's got a cool ending! I've never seen a scene with that tensity!! It definitely reminds me of Tarantino ;-)

【椿三十郎】 (1962)
三船敏郎の演じる役があまりにも＜用心棒＞と似ているのでおかしいなとは思った。で、椿三十郎はその続編でした。どうりで．．．。用心棒よりこちらの方が娯楽性があって結構笑わせる部分が多いように感じたが、最後のシーンはスゴい迫力！！タランティーノを思い出さずにはいられないシーンでした。

本当にほんとーに面白かった！！三船敏郎の魅力全開！！東野英治郎も素晴らしい。DVD欲しいなぁ。

【虎の尾を踏む男達】 (1945)
フィルムの古さになんだかもの凄い貴重なものを見てしまったような衝撃を受けた。まるで資料映像でも見ているよう。しかし寝てしまった．．．((><)) そして言葉の意味が分からなかった．．．でもコメディ要素があって面白かった。これは歌舞伎の演目の１つ、勧進帳が元になっている。源頼朝に追われ、逃げる途中の弟義経が関所をどう越えるか、という話。もちろんこれは後から知ったのだが．．．映画のあらすじを先に知ってしまうのは好きではないが、黒澤映画は予習をしてから見ても良いかもしれん。この勧進帳が今でも歌舞伎で見れるのなら見てみたい。
そしてエノケン！これが噂のエノケン！！彼は体全体を使う表現者だ。寝てしまったし言葉がわからなかったけど、彼を見ただけでも価値があったかも。

I fell asleep even though it was only a sixty-minute film...
The porter was really funny and it's Kenichi Enomoto, who is a famous comedian. He is sooo good.

黒澤映画特集、第一本目、【七人の侍】 (1954)です。
素晴らしいですねー何度見ても飽きません。
私はやはりストーリーと登場人物がしっかり描かれている映画が見ていて感動する。そして黒澤映画にはそういう映画が多い。特にこの七人の侍はそういう映画だと思う。台詞が聴き取りにくい部分が結構前半にあってとっても残念なのですが、名前のついている登場人物それぞれの個性がきちんと描かれていて、映画が終わると寂しくなるくらい入り込んでしまう。また時々見たくなる映画です。

First film I saw was Seven Samurai (1954).
What a fantastic film. I love a film that has a great story and tells us each character who they are. I find Kurosawa's films are like that. You know what kind of person each character is, and it's very sifnificant with Seven Samurai. I'm sure I'll come back to this film agian in the near future.
