あしからず。
今日はある日本の会社のブース通訳でした。
しかし最初からなんかおかしかった。
どうも社長や常務（兄弟で30代後半かな？）にコンパニオンかなんかだと思われていたような気がする。
だって挨拶したら、「英語いけますか？」と聞かれた。通訳ってそれがしごとだべ、普通。なんかおかしい。そしたら今度はお茶を入れろと顎で使われた。さらに暇なときは眼鏡を拭いてと眼鏡拭きを渡された。
”通訳だから雑用は嫌よ”とは言いたくないが、せめて断りを入れて欲しかった。だって”暇な時”ってずっとなんだもん。ブースに来た外国のバイヤーで私が対応したのはたったの１組よ！！社長さんは英語が出来るので他は彼が対応したとはいえ、それでもせいぜいトータル３組がいいとこ。いわゆる”待機通訳”ってやつになった。でもそれならそれで言って欲しかったし、”待機”する場所を作って欲しかった。後で話を聞いたら、ブースにくるであろう外国のバイヤーはアジアからが多いが、彼らとは取引きするつもりはないらしい。そしてヨーロッパのバイヤーはいいのだが、今日来たのはたったの２組。
ちきしょーーーー 一生かかってもこんなに眼鏡拭かないぞってくらい拭きまくったぞ！！！！！
しかも福井のこの会社からやたら社員は来ているのだが、接客する人と接客しない人がいた。接客しない輩どもは接客しないどころか、眼鏡は拭かないし挨拶もしない。ただふらふらしてるだけ。だったらなんで来た？って感じ。私が眼鏡拭いてるのに．．．なんか悔しくなった。くぅぅぅぅ！！！
明日一日だから頑張るけど、ちょっと今回はくじ運悪かった。
観月ありさを見れたのはちょっと衝撃だった。人形みたいだった。
あと松崎しげるを超えた高橋克典。これはもっと衝撃的。笑
帰りに用事があって寄ったTSUTAYAで廉価DVDを買って帰った。
なんとなく。
買ったのは大好きなこの２本。
Warning. I'm going to vent.
I was a translator for a Japanese company this time.
I felt something was wrong.
It seemed that they thought I was just a helper who could speak a little bit of English. At least that's what I figured because they asked me if I could speak English. I almost asked them, "OK, then what do interpreters do?" Eventually one of them asked me to serve tea for clients and clean the glasses when I was not busy. Well, here's antoher problem. I was not busy all day long. Hence, I was cleaning the glasses all the f***** time. I don't want to be snobbish and say, "I'm an interpreter; I don't do any other things for you." but I wish they told me in advance that it wouldn't be so busy. Well, they were busy. I wasn't. It's just that not many buyers from other countries showed up at our booth. Two British women did, but that's it. That was my only moment. I kept cleaning the glasses for the rest of the day. I feel like I'll never have to clean any glasses for the rest of my life!!
If it was because there weren't sufficient staff, I would have been more than happy to do it, but there WERE enough people. Half of the staff were just standing. They didn't talk with customers and didn't clean the glasses either. You would ask, "What were they doing?" The answer is nothing. Well, pacing and chatting. I haven't got the slightest idea why they were there.
Most likely, I'll have to do the same tomorrow. Sucks.
I had to stop by somewhere on the way home and I spontaneously bought these DVDs (because they were cheeeeeeap; $12.5 each!!). Two of my favourites.
